Expect the Material to Feel Different

Latex responds immediately and tends to feel more buoyant than slow-moving memory foam. If your previous mattress had deep contouring or a worn-in depression, the contrast can be obvious even when the new mattress is a reasonable fit.

A short adjustment period is therefore useful for separating unfamiliarity from a persistent mismatch. Spindle’s own guidance says some customers can take substantially longer than a few nights to adapt.

Check the Support System First

Before changing the mattress configuration, confirm that the frame and foundation meet the manufacturer’s requirements. A flexible or under-supported base can make a heavy latex mattress feel softer and less stable than intended.

Evaluate One Variable at a Time

If the mattress has rearrangeable layers, keep the original configuration documented. Change one thing, then evaluate it rather than repeatedly reshuffling the stack. This creates a usable comparison instead of a string of unrelated nights.

What to Track During the Trial

• Ease of changing position
• Whether the surface feels consistently too firm or too soft
• Partner disturbance
• Temperature and bedding effects
• Whether the support base remains stable
• Any visible layer or cover issue

When to Ask for Help
